lists lists lists!
im back, baby.
I saw somewhere that the 2026 calendar year aligns with 1998, and it immediately felt more personal than a calendar fact should. I was born in 1998, which means the same days are about to repeat themselves, just with a different version of me showing up to them.
I’m not sure what to do with that information just yet. Feels profound.
This post might come as a surprise for many of you - honestly, it’s a surprise for me too. But like all great procrastinators, I tend to resurface in the eleventh hour. I stepped away from writing for the second half of the year because I needed the space to sort out other things; how much money I can drop on a haircut (why are they so expensive?) and how much time do I have to doomscroll (none). You can’t do everything at once, but when you start picking/choosing, you inevitably neglect the things that actually make you feel like yourself. And for me, writing is one of those things.
So listen, I’m back. I will write more in 2026, but with less metricized pressure this time - less seriousness, fewer hard deadlines, and far less concern for whether it “performs” well. This isn’t a promise, but rather an intention to see what happens if I stop trying to optimize the output and start paying attention again.
Anyways, thanks to the ~700 people here that hold me accountable. In reality, I know it’s like 10 of you, but the number scares me enough to keep going. And sometimes that little bit of positive fear is all I need. Lots more to come in the new year.
In the meantime, have a look at these lists I made!
i’m feeling lucky
