Thank you for the Modern Love Season 1 reference. I would have been less pleased if you chose to reference season 2 (no spoiler alerts ahead)...
A question that pops into mind when I read Murphey's Law is "Can I beat it?" If something can go wrong, and according to the first law, it will, then can I ever get right? I think with an optimistic attitude and adequate preparation, you will most certainly lower your tolerance and risk of failure, respectively. We only see the wrong that's directly ahead of us when there is actually a lot of right happening in our periphery. It may not be central to us, but if we pause for a moment to stop and think, I'm certain that there is more "right" that will meet the eye. My youthful ignorance is full steam ahead right now.
You're absolutely right, there is more "right" than wrong in our lives. It's almost as if Murphy's law only exists because we tend to notice the wrong more than the right. We don't necessarily appreciate or account for every right thing in the world (putting on the right socks on each foot, using toothpaste instead of the foot cream placed next to it, taking an umbrella outside when there's no rain forecast, etc etc) So yes, there is a lot happening in our periphery and I think we beat Murphy and his law 90-something percent of the time. So don't lose your faith in humanity just yet, we're still making it happen against all odds.
